Model Photoshoot in Kula, Maui, Hawaii

IMG_1878-fbI was given the chance to join in on a model photoshoot. The plan was to shoot in Haiku, on Maui’s North Shore but the storms were dumping all the rain all night and continued to do so into the morning. So we searched for the sun, and found it in Kula, up country on the slopes of Haleakala. Our model was a dream to work with and we all had a lot of fun. We found a few photogenic locations, our Kula rainbow was the first stop at the side of the road, causing a lot of passers by to slow down to check out our activities.. Standing in the middle of the road to shoot with my 100-400 lens was a bit risky though, I have to admit..

Our model was Delana Do-Wrong – and she could do no wrong! Winking smile

My visit to London on Day 6 of the 2012 London Olympics became a once in a lifetime experience –  Team GB won Gold in the Men’s sprint today right in front of my eyes  in the Velodrome  on the most beautiful cycle track, they had also broken the world record TWICE on their way to that wonderful victory.  Sir Chris Hoy earned his fifth gold medal, alongside Philip Hindes and Jason Kenny.

The cheering is still ringing in my ears.

My day began early, by watching watching Helen Glover and Heather Stanning’s interview for Radio one by Chris Evans right after their GOLD win for GB in the Rowing – womans pair. Then later I saw Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott being interviewed for their GOLD medal win in the Men’s Canoe doubles. Then I went on to watch Hockey – USA v AUS  – AUS won 1-0…  and then out front of the Velodrome,  while asking a couple of Olympic Stewards if they knew where I could buy a ticket to watch the cycling inside, I was tapped on the shoulderby a stranger,  and was gifted a ticket that was going spare. How lucky was I ???  Thank Q so much Mr Mystery Man…  where ever you are… It made an already great day an absolutely unbelievable and unforgettable one… !!!

I saw Three Gold medal winning teams in one fantastic day, it was a goldmine of photograpic opportunities.

JAWS Maui, Hawaii

Today brought in the biggest waves of the season to Jaws, the famous surfing wave in Maui, Hawaii.

The surfers and their buddies on the jetskis were out in large  numbers. The rescue boats were there too of course. The swell started early this morning and by 11am some of the sets coming in were huge. I arrived to take these photos around 9.30 am just as all the locals were leaving to go to work. The pinapple field had a traffic jam i both directions, but it was worth it! Totally worth it. Some serious photographers camped in their trucks and had a great spot first thing this morning, but i have no complaint, i had a great spot too, in the shade.  I got the best weather of the day, even though when i left the waves were still building, the clouds had arrived and a north easterly wind had arrived, which made the waves surfaces pretty choppy.  By the time i arrived home, i heard a report thru the grapevine that three jet skis had been totalled on the rocks at the bottom of the cliffs.
